Tic-Tac-Toe
About the game
Tic-Tac-Toe is the classic board game where you take turns placing O and X on a 3×3 grid, and the first to complete a row, column, or diagonal wins. Play solo against the AI or with a friend on the same device. You can also pick your board theme and O/X mark styles.
How to play
- Mobile: tap an empty cell to place your mark.
- Desktop: click an empty cell with the mouse. You can also move between cells with Tab and place a mark with Enter.
- On the start screen, choose the game mode (Solo vs AI / Two players), AI difficulty (Easy / Normal), board theme, and mark styles, then press Start.
- During a game, use the Retry button for a new round or the Home button to go back to the setup screen.
- The ♪ button in the top-right toggles background music, and the speaker button toggles sound effects.
Tips
- Against the AI you always play O and move first. Opening in the center or a corner gives you the best chances.
- The Normal AI takes a win when it can and always blocks your two-in-a-row. Aim for a fork that threatens two lines at once.
- If your opponent has two in a row, block it before thinking about your own attack.
- Winning within 5 total moves (your 3rd move) earns a 50-point bonus, plus 10 points for each win in your current streak.
- A draw doesn't break your streak, so if a game looks lost, blocking your way to a draw is a solid choice.
FAQ
Is it free? Do I need to install anything?
It's free and runs right in your browser with no installation. It works on both mobile and desktop.
How is the score calculated?
Against the AI, a win is worth 100 points, plus 50 if you win within 5 total moves, plus 10 times your existing win streak. A draw gives 30 points and a loss gives 0.
Is my progress saved?
Your best score, best streak, and win/draw/loss record from AI games are saved in your browser (localStorage). Two-player results are not recorded, and clearing your browser data erases the record.
What's the difference between the AI levels?
Easy plays a random empty cell. Normal plays a winning move first, then a blocking move, then the center, then a corner.
