About the game

Slide Puzzle is a classic puzzle where you slide scrambled picture pieces one space at a time into the empty slot until the original picture is restored. Pick one of 36 pictures, mostly animals and sea creatures, and play in 3×4 Kids mode or 4×5 Challenge mode. There is a spare slot below the bottom-right corner: the puzzle is solved when every piece is back in place and the empty space has returned to that spare slot.

How to play

  • Tap or click a piece directly above, below, left or right of the empty space to slide it in
  • Only one piece moves at a time, and movable pieces are highlighted
  • The spare slot connects only to the bottom-right cell of the board
  • Retry reshuffles the same picture, Pictures lets you choose another one, and Exit returns to the start screen
  • On the start screen you can toggle music, sound effects and vibration (there are no keyboard controls)

Tips

  • Use the goal picture preview together with the numbers on each piece to find where they belong.
  • Solve the top row first, then work downward, leaving finished rows untouched.
  • For the last two pieces of a row, park one out of the way and rotate them in together so you don't break pieces you already placed.
  • You finish by fitting the bottom-right piece while sending the empty space into the spare slot, so keep some room around the bottom-right corner until the end.
  • If you are new, warm up with the 3×4 Kids mode before taking on the 4×5 Challenge mode.

FAQ

Is it free? Do I need to install anything?

It is free and runs right in your web browser with no installation.

Are my records saved?

Your best record (time and number of moves) for each picture and mode is saved in your browser's localStorage. A faster time, or the same time with fewer moves, counts as a new best. Clearing browser data erases it.

Can a shuffled puzzle be unsolvable?

No. Each puzzle is shuffled by making random legal moves from the solved picture, so it can always be solved.

Can I play on mobile?

Yes. Just tap the pieces with your finger, and vibration feedback is supported on devices that allow it.
