Sky Burst
About the game
Sky Burst is a vertical arcade shooter where you steer a fighter to dodge enemy fire while it shoots automatically. Grab items to upgrade your weapon up to five levels, and take down the bosses that appear after enough time or points. Each boss you defeat raises the difficulty, so survive as long as you can and chase a new high score.
How to play
- Mobile: drag on the screen to move the fighter (it aims a little above your finger so it stays visible)
- PC: arrow keys or W A S D to move (mouse drag also works)
- Shooting: automatic, no button needed
- Space: start the game / restart after game over
- P or Esc: pause
- M: mute or unmute sound
Tips
- Power items upgrade your weapon from Basic to Double, Triple, Power and Burst shot. Each level fades after about 11 seconds and you also lose one level when hit, so keep collecting them.
- A shield blocks one hit for 5 seconds, a bomb clears every enemy bullet on screen, and a heart restores 1 HP (max 3). The speed item boosts your movement for 5 seconds.
- Combos of 5, 10, 20 and 30 give bonus points, and wiping out an entire formation adds 700. Getting hit resets your combo, so dodging comes first.
- A boss shows up after about 60 seconds or 6,000 points. Ramming a boss costs 2 HP, and its attacks get fiercer as its health drops, so keep your distance while firing.
- You earn 100 points for every 10 seconds survived and 500 for every 30 seconds without being hit. Steady survival often beats reckless aggression.
FAQ
Is it free? Do I need to install anything?
It is free and runs right in your web browser with no installation.
Is my progress saved?
Your high score, total plays, total kills, longest survival time, max combo and boss clears are saved in your browser's localStorage. Clearing browser data or switching devices will not carry them over.
How does game over work?
You have 3 HP. Enemy bullets or crashing into an enemy cost 1 HP, colliding with a boss costs 2, and you get a short moment of invincibility after each hit. The game ends when HP reaches 0.
Can I play on mobile?
Yes. It is designed for a portrait screen: just drag to move and the fighter fires on its own.
